First day, some great floral fabric in Auburn, this will possibly make a few shopping bags, or cover a chair that I have had sitting in the garage for several months. An old crocheted Granny rug, few holes in this one, but I do plan on doing some mending, maybe on New Years Eve as I watch the fireworks and fun on TV. The Granny style round cushion cover reminds me of one in my own Nanna's house, that was made of silk threads, this is a modern one, colours are a bit bright for me, but fancy going to all that trouble to make it and have it end up in an Op shop!. The Topsy-Turvy doll is one you turn inside out to find the 'pretty girl' in a pale blue dress.
the Treasure Trove at 111 Auburn Road had a couple of boxes of fabric remnants, all lovely.
Their shop supports EPIC, an organisation supporting people committed to helping children with developmental disabilities.
I also called in on the Sacred Heart Mission in Riversdale Rd, Hawthorn and picked up some patterns and books and the NEW op shop... Boroondara Central Lions Club.
The old Ben Lion shop at Wattle Park (Box Hill South), closed down on Christmas eve, very sad. they had been in that shop for over 20 years, but the new owner of the building wants to re-develop it, so the Lions had to move.
They have found good premises not too far away in Burwood Village. 1350c Toorak Road, at the city end of the shopping strip, just past Cash Converters, and diagonally opposite the Animal Welfare OpShop there.
They will be open 10.30 to 4.30 on Weekdays and 9.30 to 12.30 Saturdays, so do remember to stop off there and check them out.
Hi Lyndel, great finds and great new blog!It will be interesting to see what you will find over the coming year, Happy New Year, bye, Tamara
